Our Origins

We counsel a diverse clientele ranging from large public corporations and public authorities to small businesses and individuals. Our core aim is to provide our clients with access to high-quality legal advice to help them in their international and cross border transactions. Thanks to our vast experience in a variety of fields across multiple jurisdictions, we are well equipped to aid clients wherever their business might take them. 

The network was first formed after careful research and negotiation between law firms from France, Spain, and Portugal. Seven countries, including England, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands, later joined the network in the hopes of creating the network as a European Economic Interest Group (EEIG). Belgium and Denmark followed in their footsteps shortly after.  The network was then officially founded in 1989 under the name Eurojurist. 

The network gradually increased in size and achieved excellent legal service throughout Europe for clients ranging from small, privately held corporations to multinationals. Soon, it was recognized that a wider global network was needed as clients demanded help in overseas regions.

In 1994, Eurojurist  Network was formed, abandoning our previous country membership restrictions. The name was changed to Interlegal in 1996 to reflect this change in our network’s outlook and service. 

Since then, we have  grown in size, adding members from the Americas, Asia, the far East, Australia, and the new EU member states. We continue our charted course of providing local excellence throughout the world,  working with clients wherever their business takes them.

Differentiator

Interlegal strives to be a differentiator and not a merit badge for our members. Our goal is not to have our logo embedded in your website. We measure the success metrics of our membership and periodically measure performance against these metrics.
